Portuguese coeducational game created by class 7B - Rules

NAME: WORMING GAME

Playground: Field dimensions: 20m / 30 m or similar
Equipment: Elastic bands and a chronometer / Boys and girls (a class of 20)

Development and Rules: 

• The game is played by two teams. One is called WORMS and the other is called CLEANSERS;
• In each team there are 2 groups. In each group there are 3 elements;
• The elements of each group form a line. The WORMS put their hands on the partners’ shoulders. The CLEANSERS stay hand in hand; all participants must wear an elastic band around their ankles; they will need to coordinate their movements with their partners;
• At the beginning of the games the 2 teams of three elements each (6 elements in each team), stand on opposite sides of the field outside the playing area;
• A whistle will sound and that’s when all the teams get into the playing area. The WORMS must try to catch the APPLES which are scattered through the field. The CLEANSERS try to catch the WORMS, but they must catch them one by one and only the first in each worm.
 • If the WORM breaks up, then the first half elements will continue to be a worm. The ones at the back half will become APPLES and must scatter again through the field, waiting to be caught;  

Aims:

• WORMS: go around the field, catching APPLES, in order to become bigger and bigger by adding new elements.
• CLEANSERS: “Eliminate” the first elements of any of the WORM teams, which become part of the cleansers as they are touched. 
The team who has the largest number of elements at the end of the 5 minutes playing time will win the game.

In June there was time to go sailing with our Spanish partners!

In June the weather is warm and for that reason it was the perfect occasion to invite our Spanish partners to come to Tavira and try sailing and, of course, go to Tavira Island! Both teachers and students had a great time not only at school but also on Tavira island and in Quatro Águas. Teacher Elizabeth worked hard all day to pass on her passion for sailing!!

The Portuguese national agency PROALV invited us to go to Brussels...

Last April the Portuguese team received an invitation from PROALV, our national agency, to be at a conference in Brussels. HELPING SCHOOLS TEAM UP ACROSS EUROPE was its theme. There we met teachers from all over Europe and had the chance to tell about our project. It was a good opportunity to learn and to share...

Exhibition about Portuguese Sportsmen and Sportswomen with disabilities

Last April our students were assigned a project about Portuguese Sportsmen and Sportswomen with disabilities. Most of them were shown at an exhibition at school.

Comenius - Year two has started

We have been away for some time now, but it doesn't mean we haven't been busy. In fact, we have carried out a number of activities, such as: 1. an exhibition about Portuguese sportsmen and sportswomen with disabilities; 2. collaboration in the celebration of the ACTIVE SCHOOL DAY; 3. a sailing activity on Tavira Island for both Portuguese and Spanish students. Last month we travelled to Nicosia, in Cyprus, where we took part in the 4th COMENIUS meeting. Two of our students had the chance to spend a few days in a foreign country, go to school there and share their daily lives with students from Cyprus and other European countries. Soon you will be reading about Carolina Silva and Beatriz Simões who will surely tell you all about the most interesting moments of their Comenius experience. For the meeting in Cyprus we also created a co-educational game, which was played at our school and will be played by the other Comenius partners.
